Yellow Dog Plains Still Under Attack

This past week an Ingham County Circuit Judge ruled the state Department of Environmental Quality acted properly by granting Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company an air permit for their proposed nickel mine up on the Yellow Dog Plains in the Upper Pennisula.

This is a clearly a setback for those of us opposing the mine operation - it doesn't mean the fight is over. There are still a number of legal challenges being played out in the court system. There is still hope that our leaders - the ones we have intrusted with protecting our majestic natural resources will stand up to the mighty dollar of a dirty mine and do what is right for Michigan - all of Michigan including our water, our wildlife, and our quality of life.

Take some time today to visit the folks who have committed themselves to stopping this mine - to protecting and preserving one of the most breathtaking, powerful places in the world.
