This is not a chess game Senator Bishop!

Senator Bishop is playing games with your health....yup, you read it right.

What if I told you that Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop (R-Rochester) has always opposed a smoking ban in Michigan? Yup. Seriously.

What if I told you that back in 2007, the Democrats tried to send a smoking ban bill to the Health Policy Committee (the most logical place, don't you think?), where the Republican chair, Dr. Tom George (R-Kalamazoo) supported the ban. Instead, due to heavy pressure by the Senator Majority Leader, the bill was sent to the Government Operations and Reform Committee, which is chaired—of course!--by Senator Mike Bishop, himself.

Hmmmmm? Let’s see? Don’t you think a smoking ban would be more fairly considered by a physician?

So all the political garble we hear coming from Senator Bishop is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. His challenge to the Democrats to for go their exemption of the casinos, bars and restaurants is just a game of chicken. Bishop—plain and simple—doesn’t support the ban. And, he’s trying to make the Democrats take the blame for it.

Senator Bishop, your political games are hurting my health and my future. This is not a chess game. We are not political pawns! You do not have the right to play games with the air we breathe.
