Reichardt Hopes His Views on the Environment Will Get Him Elected

In West Michigan's crowded Second Congressional District race, it's going to take a special candidate to stand out from the pack. Field Reichardt, a Republican in the race, says his views on the environment set him apart from other candidates.

Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, recently served as moderator for a conversation on the environment between Reichardt and former Governor of New Jersey Christine Todd Whitman. The event was held at the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids.

Topics covered in the conversation included invasive species in the Great Lakes, air quality, environmental education, urban sprawl, wind farms and global warming.

The event left us excited that candidates like Reichardt are recognizing what voters want in Lansing and Washington, D.C.: Environmental leaders and advocates. Let’s keep these politicians accountable and keep reminding them that Michigan wants representatives who will protect and preserve our environment.

Note: The National League of Conservation Voters has officially endorsed Reichardt, but the Michigan League of Conservation Voters has made no such official endorsement.
