Post Election Season 2010: Just the Beginning

The midterm elections are over. And you might think it's time for us to sit back and enjoy some hot cider. In reality, our work is only just beginning.

We are hitting the ground running and making sure the next two years are good ones for the environment in Michigan.

Already, news organizations from around the state are asking us to assess what the election results mean for Michigan’s environment. AnnArbor.com ran an excellent story on our involvement with Rick Snyder's campaign and the reasons our Political Director Ryan Werder is “cautiously optimistic” about the incoming administration.

The Michigan Messenger also devoted an article to our thoughts. Werder reminded the new leadership that although they may be looking to save money, “the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment can’t afford cuts.”

With the election season over, it is time to keep the newly elected officials responsible for protecting Michigan’s environment. Keep an eye out for us in the next couple of weeks. We will be busy identifying environmental priorities for this new administration, and of course, keeping you in the know with news articles, blog posts, and more.

Don’t forget to catch the Michigan LCV's take on the election results with Werder and our Executive Director Lisa Wozniak on the radio. Tune in Friday, Nov. 5, on 89.1 WEMU at 7:40 a.m. We'll also be posting the audio when it's available.
