Milliken Matters: Michigan LCV's Honorary Board Chairman Highlighted in Hour Detroit Magazine

Committed, determined, kind and compassionate, Governor William Milliken and his wife Helen lead a life that is admired by many.

Both are examples of civility and grace through incredibly trying times, never bowing to the malice and sheer nastiness found so often in today's political world. Their heads held high, and with a humility virtually unknown in Lansing and Washington, Governor and Mrs. Milliken are heroes for many in the arenas of environmental protection, prisoner and women's rights, and --- due to their deep commitment to our urban centers --- Detroit.

As author Dave Dempsey is quoted in the article, Governor Milliken is, ".... sort of the North Star for grading public servants and guiding the public — the standard by which a lot of us measure Michigan politics today and in the future.”

As you are enjoying (or digging out of) this snowy Wednesday, please take the opportunity to read this well-written article by Jack Lessenberry on one of Michigan's finest public servants: http://www.hourdetroit.com/Hour-Detroit/February-2011/Milliken-Matters/
