The program is designed to serve low-income Michiganders\, defined as those earning up to 80% of the area median income or 200% of the federal poverty level\, whichever is greater. \nThis session is your chance to weigh in on: \n\n\nHow funding and resources should be distributed geographically to ensure equitable access across the state \n\n\nWhat criteria should guide project selection and program design to best meet the needs of Michigan communities \n\n\nThe session will begin with a brief overview from EGLE before opening up for public comments. We will be collecting trash throughout the park and beach to keep our land and water clean and safe. \nWhat to Expect: Volunteers will be assigned to different areas of the park at check-in at the Thomas Welsh Activity Center. All necessary tools\, gloves and bags will be provided. Volunteers will receive free entry into the park on clean-up day. All members of a group must be registered to participate and properly assign tasks. Snacks and water will be provided at the end of the event. Volunteers will be working independently of staff after initial orientation. \nAt the end of the clean-up\, there will be a weigh-in competition to determine who collected the most waste and earn some awesome prizes! \nIf you own a kayak\, please contact us to let us know as we need volunteers who would be willing to pick up waste in the water as well.
