Celebrate Michigan’s pristine beauty, help protect public lands with your best nature photographs
Fall photo contest celebrates the beauty that makes our state worth protecting
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) is inviting Michiganders to show off their best shots of the state’s breathtaking landscapes, lakeshores, forests and wildlife for its Fall Keeping Public Lands in Public Hands Photo Contest.
From sunrises over Lake Huron to trails lined with fall color, Michigan’s natural beauty is abundant and worth protecting. In light of recent federal proposals to sell off public lands for oil and gas drilling, Michigan LCV is hosting the contest to celebrate the state’s incredible natural beauty and remind state leaders and policymakers what’s at stake if we don’t safeguard our land, air and water.
“The Great Lakes State is blessed with 8 million acres of public land, 103 state parks, six national parks and thousands of local parks and recreation areas,” said Samantha Schubert, visual storytelling manager for Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “Everyone has a unique story or connection to the beautiful natural resources Michigan has to offer. We launched this photo contest to give people a way to share those personal connections and help remind leaders that our public lands and natural spaces are cherished and must be protected.”
