House Republicans just voted to sell out our future
Just before the July 4th holiday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act – the sprawling, deeply dangerous tax and spending bill that threatens our clean energy future, raises energy costs for families, and adds trillions of dollars to the national deficit. Not very beautiful, if you ask us.
We won’t sugarcoat it: this is a devastating blow. But it’s not the end.
Over the past few months, you’ve stepped up and helped fight back every step of the way. Together, we’ve rallied in the streets, flooded congressional offices with calls and emails, published op-eds, activated supporters across the state, and worked around the clock to build opposition and raise the alarm.
Despite this devastating loss, don’t lose hope. Our efforts did make a real difference. Because of the pressure we created, one of the most dangerous provisions in the bill – which would have forced the sale of hundreds of millions of acres of public lands – was removed before final passage. Even in defeat, we’ve built power and proved that when we speak out together, we can stop the worst from becoming law. We’ve drawn a clear line between those fighting for people and planet, and those prioritizing corporate polluters and the billionaires.
Make no mistake: every single member of Congress who voted yes on this bill will continue to hear from us. They chose to back a plan that slashes climate investments, hikes utility costs, and threatens thousands of jobs – all to appease one man and his polluting allies.
This fight isn’t over. Not even close. Our democracy, our environment, and our future are worth fighting for – and we’re already back to work. Stronger, louder, and more determined than ever.
As always, thank you for being in this fight.
