And we’ll show you two ways to help. Together, we can be a voice for change and protect Michigan’s land, air, water, public health, and democracy.
Michiganders pay the highest energy costs in the Midwest for some of the least reliable power in the country, all while the monopoly utility companies who serve us rake in huge profits for executives and shareholders.
Nothing changes because DTE and Consumers Energy donate millions of dollars to the lawmakers who set the rules the utility companies must follow.
The problem is clear: big utility companies and their deep-pocketed CEOs have too much influence on Lansing politicians. They give money to nearly every one of them and, in return, are guaranteed any attempts at real energy reform or accountability are blocked. We elect our state representatives and senators to work for us. The very people setting the laws that oversee big for-profit energy utility companies should not be taking money from them.
Together, we can change this. We are challenging all lawmakers in the state Legislature to refuse to take money from big energy utility companies.
We need your help to make it clear to your lawmakers that we need to put Michiganders ahead of big energy utility company profits. That starts with refusing their money and political contributions.
Send a message to your lawmakers urging them to take the ‘No Utility Money’ Challenge today!
