Kye is a Southeast Michigan Regional Organizer on the Advocacy and Outreach team. They graduated from the University of Michigan’s Residential College with a double degree in Social Theory and Practice and Arts and Ideas in the Humanities.
Before joining Michigan LCV, Kye worked extensively in the Detroit community with various Detroit organizations and businesses in diverse roles. Most memorably they were a Community Engagement Intern for the General Baker Institute and an Apprentice for the Art and Motion ceramics studio. Most recently they were a Student Success Coach for City Year Detroit at an east side K-8 school. During university, they created a comprehensive online platform that served as both an archive and analysis of the effectiveness of the Poor People’s Campaign of 1968 compared to the Campaign of 2018 as an honors thesis. They have carried a love for the city of Detroit and a passion to advocate for it throughout their career.
When Kye is not working, they love to practice ceramics, read interesting books, and play video games.
