And we’ll show you two ways to help. Together, we can be a voice for change and protect Michigan’s land, air, water, public health, and democracy.
DTE and Consumers Energy have once again asked state regulators to raise our energy rates — and this time they are asking for over $1 billion. If approved, that cost would be passed off directly to customers. Our bills are already too damn high! Enough is enough.
Consumers received a $154 million rate increase in March — but the minute they were able to ask for more, they turned around and asked for another $436 million. DTE Energy was also approved to raise our rates by $217 million in January, and now they’re trying to raise rates again by another $574 million.
According to federal energy data, we pay the highest costs for energy in the Midwest for some of the worst reliability in the country. We keep paying more for our energy and continue to be left in the dark.
The good news: we can fight back. Utility rate hikes must be approved by state regulators at the Michigan Public Service Commission. Make your voice heard by submitting a public comment urging them to reject these rate hikes.
