Rather than requiring the company to pay for the renewable energy needed to power its massive operations, this bill shifts those costs onto U.P. households and small businesses. That means higher electricity bills for families, so a corporation can protect its bottom line.
House Bill 4283 is a solution in search of a problem. Michigan ratepayers – especially in the U.P. – already pay some of the highest energy prices in the Midwest while experiencing the worst reliability and service.
