Key Information
SBs 401-404, known as the Michigan Voting Rights Act (VRA), contains key provisions that will help ensure that all Michigan voters have equal access to the freedom to vote. The Michigan VRA will allow individuals to sue over voter suppression, ensure advance public notice of voting-related changes, establish a centralized database for election information, and allow courts to require pre-approval before voting changes can go into effect in jurisdictions that have violated voting rights laws. Additionally, these bills will further expand voter accessibility by expanding language access and providing new protections and assistance for voters with disabilities.
