Ben Poulson

State Government Affairs Manager

Ben Poulson brings extensive experience in legislative affairs, stakeholder engagement, and environmental policy. Serving as Legislative Director for Representative Denise Mentzer and Representative Bill Sowerby, Ben contributed to key legislative efforts focused on natural resource protection and environmental priorities. His deep understanding of Michigan’s political landscape and strong relationships with lawmakers and advocacy groups supports the League of Conservation Voters’ mission of safeguarding Michigan’s air, land, and water.

Before joining MLCV, Ben served as Director of Client Relations at Truscott Rossman, where he led public relations and public affairs strategies across key clients. His experience in earned media relations, strategic communication, and stakeholder engagement has enabled him to build strong partnerships and drive impactful campaigns. Additionally, his background as a General Manager, overseeing large teams in high-pressure environments, has strengthened his ability to handle complex projects and manage resources effectively in every role he’s held. A proud Michigan State University graduate, Ben brings a well-rounded approach to policy analysis and community-focused advocacy.

Outside of his professional work, Ben enjoys outdoor activities like rock climbing, snowboarding  and stand-up paddling, which further fuel his passion for protecting Michigan’s environment.
