And we’ll show you two ways to help. Together, we can be a voice for change and protect Michigan’s land, air, water, public health, and democracy.

Governor Whitmer’s decision to approve a second round of funding for the revival of the Palisades nuclear plant is concerning to Michigan LCV. While we support the transition to clean, reliable energy, we believe that taxpayer funds should be redirected away from an outdated nuclear project and used to accelerate investments in renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and reduction efforts.
The plant’s environmental assessment acknowledges that alternatives like solar and wind could meet Michigan’s energy needs. These renewable technologies are cleaner, safer, and more sustainable. They also hold the potential to provide long-term benefits at a lower cost.
Rather than investing in an aging nuclear facility, Michigan should prioritize investments that offer the greatest promise for both environmental sustainability and fiscal responsibility. The state’s focus should be on clean, modern energy solutions, not propping up a nuclear project that has already received significant taxpayer dollars.
